About Archimedean
Archimedean was started in 2016 by Stephen Wood, a British naval architect with a strong background in marine salvage and wreck removal, developed from the execution of many projects around the world. This was endorsed by his selection as a member of the Lloyd’s panel of Special Casualty Representatives (SCR). He specialises in providing technical and overseeing support at all stages of marine casualties, including assisting with planning prior to an incident, or advising on response in the early stages of an incident, times when serious casualties can sometimes be averted.
Prior to becoming a consultant in 2012 Stephen worked predominantly for Titan Salvage in most operational roles working up to five years as salvage master responding to several well-known high profile operations. Stephen’s development ran parallel as Titan grew from a small towage and salvage contractor to one of the most capable and respected in the world, personally gaining over 20 years’ experience in towing, jack-up barge operations, marine salvage, wreck removal, pollution response, heavy lift and marine construction operations.
As a consultant, he has furthered his involvement in marine casualties providing advice to Owners, Salvors, Hull & Machinery Insurers, Protection and Indemnity Clubs, Lawyers and Government bodies as a naval architect and marine consultant including presenting expert statements. He has also conducted damage and condition surveys, marine warranty surveys, and produced reports for the settlement of marine claims.
